Basic grammar of Assanna, an ancient language of Yoryyn/Guarmi.
...this is so nerdy it hurts.
I'll add to the nerdism, dictionary and alphabet grid coming soon...it's just...taking me forever to transcribe it onto the computer klsajdf I made an Assanna font a long time ago and IT'S NOT WORKING ARGH so I'm having to remake it.
I'd poop bricks if you already understood by just flipping through that dictionary I made LOL
One day you will come back....and be able to read it...
Once I get it transcribed to the computer I'll send you a copy or post it or something kk. Besides even if you had the dictionary the words are conjugated so you need to know the basic grammar first anyway. >>>:I
Well then here is one new phrase just for you to end the day:
Interesting. o: The reason why I included gender pronouns is that some of the tribes in Yoryyn are more divided by gender role than others - so whether they use the pronouns or not is really a cultural preference. Spirits and other such beings don't have any gender pronouns as they don't have a gender/ isn't culturally important. These are really the basic of the basic grammar, there's several different pronouns and dialects that are exclusive and/or situational to each part of the world, but for the sake of simplicity I just decided on this singular, "main" dialect of Assanna. xD There are gender neutral pronouns and specific conjugations for them but they get kind of complicated because verb and pronoun prefixes/suffixes get a bit messy when they are pre-divided by cultural divide and other linguistic mechanisms...if that even makes sense...The gender differentiation just fit well with the concept of the "mother tree" and what she stands for in Yoryyn lore.
Wow sorry kind of rambled even though it wasn't really a question LOL
in the best way possible???
So, so impressed. How long did it take you to construct this lovely language?!
The you must be quite linguistically-minded! Just out of curiosity, how many languages do you know? :3
Urge to learn this.. RISING. <3
I originally had the basics constructed when I was in jr high, but I just polished it so that it would function in the past year or so (really making up the vocabulary is the tedious part sakjd ).
I only speak 2 fluently,I've studies others for a few years but when you don't use it daily they kind of start to fade haha. ;;
So it's a long time in the making huh. It's beautiful~ I for one would love to hear some correct pronunciation of it! ;D *shot*
Haha, on and off I suppose! Thank you~!
LOL oh gosh, that would be quite the project...Maybe once I get a mic or something, audio lessons?!?! -shot- jk
Hopefully once I upload the alphabet, it's a lot easier to visualize what the words sound like since it's phonetic unlike English.
I'm curious though - would members of Yoryyntel be expected to know Assanna and RP using it?
and nope! This is just for fun. I'll occasionally be using it in the chat room and extra assignments, but for nothing mandatory.
so ... I guess all shamans have to be able to speak assanna? Or only when speaking to the spirits? Or... is it just for general reference? Just wondering how it will be used~
Ah, nope! It's not mandatory, this is really just for fun. In the chatroom, if there's no shamans present, I will have the spirits speak Assanna just so members who haven't completed their puzzle requirements don't really have "access" to them. |D Though after a few shaman puzzles I'll be reverting to English. I'll probably also have some extra assignments for people who want to do them related to the language, but that's about it.
I'll so be applying \ :U / Can't wait for everything to be set up~
